Friday Night Lights

Tonight as we exited the restaurant after dinner, the loud-speaker commentary from this high school football game was bouncing off the store fronts of the little shopping area where we were.  We drove by to get a closer look, and discovered that this football stadium belongs to a church that also boasts a small private high school (you can see the church steeple to the right). 

I should mention that it was just after 8:00 p.m. and the thermometer in my car said it was 106 degrees outside.  I think the fact that a little school has a football set-up like this and that the team was playing in such heat - not to mention the sweaty fans watching from the bleachers - testifies of the importance of football in the Lone Star State.
