New master bath, too

While we were in redecoration mode, we also did the master bathroom. I wish I had taken some "before" pictures so you could see all the trashy wallpaper I had to peel off (removing wallpaper is truly for the birds!) Under all this blue paint, there is a TON of spackle patching the gouges I made with my scraper when I was peeling the wallpaper.

I painted over the worn-out oak vanity and added some knobs. Brad thought I was crazy to paint over stained wood, but believe me, it looks way better.

We went all out and replaced the light fixture and the faucet, too. Let's just say there was much cursing on Brad's part during the faucet replacement. But, I am pretty proud that I figured out how to do the light fixture all by my very own self.

New Master Bedroom!

We are so excited to announce that after years of sleeping in the UGLIEST master bedroom ever, we have finally redecorated! I know we live too far away for most of you to just pop in and take a look at the new bedroom, so I am posting some pictures. This way you can share in our excitement!
I can't tell you how pleased I am to see the "raw hot dog walls" gone forever. And, after 13 years of marriage, Brad and I finally have a decent set of bedroom furniture (by "decent", I mean all the pieces match and the dresser drawers open without crumbling in your hands).
This wall color may look basic to you more experienced decorators, but it took me 3 tries to get the color just right. Who knew "beige" could be so hard? The walls are still pretty bare, but hopefully soon I can get some things framed and up on the walls. I am thinking I want to take some pictures of Bear Lake this summer, since that is both Brad's and my Happy Place.
Yes, this is a king-sized bed. Brad and I looooooove it!

Mother's Day 2008

Here I am with my crazy children on Mother's Day. I had a great day that started with breakfast in bed and ended with an episode of Masterpiece Theater's Cranford (I know I'm a geek, but I love those old English novels). It is still hard to believe I am a mom, let alone a mother of four. I feel like I truly got the best kids!

Pinewood Derby Winner!!

We are proud to announce that Pepper WON his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby! His car raced in 5 heats, and he clearly won every one.

Yes, the green blur in the front is Pepper's car. After each heat, Pepper would look at Brad and me and just beam - he was trying not to gloat, but it was very exciting!

Pepper's pack leader had made an extra car that he let Adam race. Adam's car came in 5th place (last), but he was just happy to participate with the big boys.

Some of you may recall that 2 years ago, Jessica also won the Pinewood Derby (there weren't enough Cub Scouts to hold a Derby, so they invited the Activity Days girls to participate). The pressure is now on for our family - our first 2 children have won, so now Adam and Luke will have big shoes to fill! (and with 2 titles under his belt, Brad is one proud papa!)
