The best idea I ever had: moving Mother's Day and Father's Day to the next week for Brad and me. This way, we can celebrate our fathers (or mothers as the day may be), then have a whole Sunday with our own little family.

Tonight was Cruz's city league 11u baseball all-star tournament, which meant the best players from Eagle Mountain's 11u league were all on a team that played a tournament against other cities' 11u all star teams.
They've been playing pool games all week, but tonight was bracket play. It was single elimination, so if a team lost, they were out. Winners moved on to play winners...you know the drill. EM did well in pool play and entered bracket play at second seed. Their first game was against Copper Hills, who they had beaten earlier in the week.
Things were going well for EM (they were beating CH 8-3 in the second inning), and the Copper Hills parents and coaches were NOT taking it well. They kept yelling at the umps, who looked like they were sixteen years old, and challenged--loudly--everything that didn't go CH's way. It made for a lousy atmosphere at the game, which, sadly, EM eventually lost by one run.
This guy in the long white socks was the worst of the worst. After the game, Jami said something to him. It went something like this:
Jami: You know these boys are 11 years old.
Long White Socks: (belligerently) I know.
Jami: You know you were acting ridiculous.
LWS: (again belligerently) I know.
Apparently, he did actually know, because he stood back by the concession stand during the whole next game, which was the championship game. Jami and I stayed to watch it simply to see CH get creamed by the number one team (we weren't disappointed--CH lost 14-6). We also kept an eye on LWS, and he didn't say one word.
Jami is my hero.

Reports from my cancer scans today. Note the "no evidence of metastatic disease" parts.
I love that my heart is still alive to sing.

Having Jodi and her family here is bringing back all the summertime feels from summers at Gma Larson's gone by. This is a favorite memory from July 2008.

Look what my talented daughter did! Jess bought these prints at the vintage fair in Logan, and she framed them perfectly to make her laundry room shine. She is so amazing!!!
