Last Jr. Jazz basketball game of the regular season. The other team didn't show, so Luke's team got their second 'W' of the season due to forfeit. They ended up playing a pick-up game with some random players at the gym and still got a 'W', winning by two points. You can see both the coach and the pig-tailed player weren't all that stressed about it.

The birthday boy! It's hard to believe this man, who now stands over six feet tall, used to be my snuggly, downy haired baby. And that he has a girlfriend who makes him birthday cakes. It's almost like he doesn't need me anymore, except he does. He'll always be my Bubbala.

Adam's birthday is tomorrow, so we took him and his girlfriend Anna to dinner at Red Robin tonight. While there, Bubs told me he did a showcase Cha-Cha routine with his 280 class at a social dance lab last Thursday. Of course I asked for the video. Adam is the tall skinny guy dancing in the back left. He's clearly the best one.

Last night, I was reading in bed when Pepper came in to chat. He started telling me about the line dances he's learned country dancing and proceeded to demonstrate a few. I could not have loved it more 😍

Brad was watching Footloose (the original 1984 version), so I OF COURSE sat down and watched it with him. This was an iconic movie of my high school years, made especially so because it was filmed within ten miles of where I lived.
Here's a landmark of the 1984 movie:
And here it is today. Literally, today. I once again live within ten miles of the Lehi Roller Mills, but where it used to be in the middle of nowhere, it's now in the middle of a bustling downtown. Even the high school behind it is unrecognizable. Still, I drive by, and I'm transported back to the Utah that I used to know.

Yikes. This is me after a root canal. I was veeeeeeery numb for most of the day, which was probably just how I wanted it. The whole ordeal was pretty painless, except when I tried to sip from a straw a few hours later. That took some work.

One of my favorite sites. Tonight we watched the Super Bowl with Brad's family at his parents' home. I intended to snap a photo of everyone piled on the couch or gathered around the table, but yeah...I forgot. I was bummed, but then I remembered there will be LOTS of opportunities to take pictures of Sunday evenings with his family. BECAUSE WE LIVE HERE NOW!!

Preference for these two.
And down south, the Sweetheart Swing.
Not pictured: Pepper the country dancer. He goes several times a week, all duded up in boots, hat, and flannel shirt. I didn't get a photo tonight, but I'll make sure to take one the next time he goes.
All these dancing boys do my momma heart proud!

Tonight, Pepper had a low blood sugar episode at work that required me to go pick him up right when I was about to start dinner. Chef Luke stepped up and made the Mu Shoo Pork and rice while I was gone. He declared himself an instant pro.
This scene captures many things I'm grateful for. First and foremost, I'm grateful for a son who is safe in my kitchen. Second, I'm grateful for a son who is willing to help. Third, I'm grateful for Hello Fresh which made said help manageable. And finally, I'm grateful for the vacuum that made a clutch play in the midst of the rice preparation.

There's a very short list of things that will compel me to be somewhere by 6 AM, but this kid and baseball are on it.
Only one more open gym, and I'll be so glad when it's over. How did I do this everyday for seminary??

The house felt too quiet tonight as I was fixing dinner, so I turned on something mindless for the noise. Family Feud 1985 fit the bill—so well, in fact, that Brad and Luke got into it, too. We may have watched three episodes. Drunk, kissy Richard Dawson holds up.

A) BYU campus is one of my most favorite places on earth.
B) Adam currently lives on BYU campus and shares my opinion.
C) I am able to drive to BYU campus on a Saturday to watch my boy play intramural basketball.
Now I'm no mathematician, but I'm pretty sure those three points add up to the big smile on my face.

Brad is ice fishing, so Lukie and I caught a movie. American Underdog delivered on all levels. There's nothing like watching the nice man win the Super Bowl while sharing a bucket of popcorn with your favorite fifteen year-old. Waaaaaaay better than ice fishing.

Years ago, Luke's baseball coach started calling him Waffles (at Luke's request--one of the other players told the team his name was Laken, like bacon, so from then on, Laken was Bacon. Luke decided he wanted to be a breakfast food, too. Now he's Waffles whenever he steps onto a baseball field).
So if Luke is Waffles, it stands to reason I'm Wafflemaker. I own the name proudly.
(and a big shout out to Jami, who custom printed my hoodie 💕)
