The train ride up to Jungfrau - "The Top of Europe" - was about an hour of chugging through tunnels in the mountain. Occasionally, the train would stop and we could look out over the mountain range for 5 minutes before we had to get back on. I did get a bit of a nap in between stops, so I can't complain.
After the sunny valley of Grindelwald, it was a shock to step out on top of the Alps. It was a different world up there! It felt like we stepped off the train into the North Pole!
Yes, it was VERY cold!
We also walked through the Ice Castle, which is a series of tunnels carved through the glacier at Jungfrau. The whole structure was ice, even the floor. So, it was a little slick, but definitely amazing. It was cool - in every sense of the word!
By this time, we were all hungry, so we had lunch at a restaurant at the Top of Europe.
How's that for a view?
