This morning, we got up and started to
get ready for church, when everything went dark. The power was off all
around the lake, so the local wards had to cancel church. So, Casey
called his bishop back home and got permission for us to hold a family
sacrament meeting there at the condos.
This was the program, hand-printed on paper plates.
I'm not going to lie--it was probably the best sacrament meeting I've attended in a long time.
The
power stayed off for most of the day, finally flickering back on in the
late afternoon. We kind of had to scrounge to put together Sunday
dinner--the ham and Funeral Potatoes we'd planned on turned into ham
sandwiches, chips, and watermelon--but having the power out at Bear Lake
is not a tragedy when the lake is right there sparkling at you and
there is lots of grass where kids can play and grown-ups can visit.
After dark, Dave and Becky set up the Annual Outdoor Movie.
It
was totally awesome until they realized they had the wrong sound cable,
so we had no sound when using the projector. No problem--just drag a
TV set outside.
Seeing
us all huddled around an old TV set, Becky renamed the evening Redneck
Outdoor Movie. All that was missing was dragging the living room
furniture outside and eating popcorn out of old Cool Whip bowls.

That sounds like the perfect Sacrament meeting to me! How fun.
